The Employee of the Month...

...is me!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be signing autographs later. We had our monthly Sheriff's meeting last night, and the Lt. announced that I was the Employee of the Month! Now, that's just for our district, but still! I got the honor for the calm way I handled that fleet earlier this month, and as he put it, "Getting on the radio and calling for EMS when all the other deputy could do was go [blubbering noises], and then directing traffic." I, truly surprised, said, "Really???" and he reiterated that he'd received several favorable comments about me--that I hadn't panicked or turned into a scared, crying little girl. I said, "I didn't have time to be scared!" but the Lt. said, "Doesn't matter, you still did a great job." Another deputy at the meeting also told me that he had heard me on the radio that night, and that I had done a good job. Well, my gosh!

Still, the more I thought about it, I always have had a knack for staying calm in crisis situations, even as a child. I must have inherited the non-panic gene from my ER-nurse mother. We just seem to have it built-in to our constitutions that when there's work that needs to be done, that's all that matters, and there's no point in wasting emotion or energy in anything else.

We've got our wrestling event tonight!!! At long last, the time is here. They were in Dallas last night and Donald Trump pissed off Vince McMahon by dropping tons of money from the ceiling into the audience. People were picking $100 bills out of the damn sky! S was salivating, saying he hopes they do that for us tonight, but I'm not optimistic. I guess we'll see!
