Life goes up and down

So since I haven't posted anything since I opened up this blog many months ago, I guess I'll just hafta catch ya up. Life has been so blissfully good (graduating from the Sheriff's Academy, meeting the absolute love of my life, Steve, much good music to enjoy, friends and loved ones, etc.) but it's also been a little stressful at times, which is why it's called life. The latest thing though, is I've been grinding my teeth at night! I've never done this before! My brother, on the other hand, has done it his whole life. What to do? I think I need to seriously concentrate on chilling out. There's a situation going on that I can't even get into right now, but it's obviously taking its toll on me. It's one of those situations that involves a dear friend, and I have pretty much no control over anything. That's probably why the teeth grind. Anyway! I have hope that I'll be ok and the friend will be ok! We're better than the situation, and it will NOT beat us!

Why Stage Left?

Because as a freelance bass player for Houston blues bands, country bands, and the occasional hard rock band (though I don't enjoy playing that genre very much) I am frequently placed on Stage Left, next to the drummer. Plus, in my former life as a classical violist, we were situated towards the left, and occasionally totally on the left if the conductor preferred that somewhat rare but not unheard of stage arrangement.
So in my 1st blog I guess I should list what I'm into this week. Ok, here it is: boxing, books about boxing (4 books checked out from the library), movies about boxing (I plan to rent Girlfight asap), and putting myself on a diet heavy on beans & rice since that's what the boxers eat. Yes, I did see Million Dollar Baby last weekend and boy, did it have an impact on me! I can't wait to go to Krav Maga tomorrow morning and kick ass!
