It appears I have no lasting effects of the fleet (see below post). Not even susto! Thank God. Yesterday the Sgt. called me to check that I'd survived through the night, and later my partner called me to see how I was feeling. I was perfectly fine, but he was still a little sore. I had felt so bad for him that on my way home I'd texted him, "I'd ride with u again anyday! I hope u get some rest and feel better manana." He said my text msg. had cheered him up. He said he hoped he hadn't scared me off but like I keep telling everyone, I had no time to be scared. (Plus I admit I was very ignorant of how bad the crash coulda been until later.) I also said that the odds are good for us now that we have had a bad fleet, and I would feel safer riding with him now than I would with anyone else! It's kind of like that scene in The World According to Garp where Garp and his wife are house-hunting, and a small airplane crashes right into the house they are currently looking at. Garp turns to the real estate agent and says, "We'll take it!" His wife says he's nuts but he points out that now that that's happened, the odds of it happening again are astronomical!
Today I met S and the baby for lunch at our favorite La Mad. S had a dr. appointment this a.m. so hopefully we can get down to the bottom of his health problems. After I get off work tonight we'll go to the library for storytime, since I won't be able to take her on Saturdays anymore now that her weekends with us fall on the Saturdays that I work at Job #2. At least until April when it'll go back to the way it was before since there's 5 weekends in March, or we have a trial date and win custody, whichever comes first.
