We slept hard and late. Sun. morning Jon's neighbor across the street invited us over for coffee, and while they've been friends a long time I'd never officially met her, so we went over for a little visit. She's a flight attendant and is gone a lot, and has the worst time with men as well--she's not the kind of chick I have much in common with but she's all right, though she and Jon have had disagreements over him helping her with her pets when she's gone, etc. Jon headed out to the gig w/our harmonica frenemy and I headed home to accomplish lots. I opened all the windows in my house and the patio door and aired out the whole house all day. I washed my bedroom drapes, vacuumed my bedroom, washed sheets, tidied up downstairs, went through the mail, did a little practicing, worked on my file, lounged a bit, etc. etc. etc. It was nice, as it always is, to spend time w/myself at home.
Tonight we'll take li'l bro out for dinner, as his (gulp!) 37th bday was yesterday, and our cousin Townes will join us. We've got some other fun stuff lined up for this week: an old friend/guitarist in town doing a show tomorrow night, which Jon and I'll go see before the blues jam. And on Friday I have the WHOLE DAY OFF, including from Job #2, which is fortuitous b/c Jon has managed to get us tickets to the taping of Austin City Limits, which I've never been to!!! And it's James Cotton and Shemekia Copeland! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! So Saturday I should be sufficiently inspired to be able to rehearse w/Jon and Rich for our upcoming gig. I keep practicing and learning, getting more and more inundated w/bass knowledge, so I have high hopes for myself!
